Capers
They are pickled in salt or a salt and vinegar solution and then drained when to use. Often used as a seasoning or garnish. They are a common ingredient in Mediterranean Cuisine. Are moslty used in salads, pasta salads, meat dishes and pasta sauces, like chicken piccata and spaghetti alla puttanesca. Known also for being one of the ingredients of Tartar Sauce. Can be served also with cold smoked salmon or cured salmon dishes.
